TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Destry Damayanti was inaugurated as the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. In addition to Destry, Aida S. Budiman was inaugurated as the Senior Deputy Governor and Solikin M. Juhro as the Deputy Governor. After undergoing a fit and proper test at the House of Representatives (DPR), the three of them will serve from 2026 to 2031.
Chief Justice Sunarto inaugurated Destry, Aida, and Solikin in accordance with Presidential Decree Number 92/P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Board of Governors of Bank Indonesia. "I swear that I will carry out the duties and obligations of the BI Governor to the best of my ability and full of responsibility," said Destry at the Supreme Court.
Previously, President Prabowo Subianto proposed Destry Damayanti as the sole candidate for the Governor of Bank Indonesia. Destry was appointed as the Acting Governor of the central bank after Perry Warjiyo resigned.
After being designated as the elected BI Governor by the DPR, Destry Damayanti stated that stability remains a priority for the Indonesian central bank amid high global uncertainty. She mentioned that the good policies of the previous leadership that are in line with the current era will be continued.
Nevertheless, Destry emphasized that policies are highly dependent on current conditions. "The stance remains the same: stability remains. In current conditions, global uncertainty is still high, so stability remains the key for us," said Destry to reporters at the DPR Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
