TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian rock climber Putra Tri Ramadani made history as the first Indonesian athlete to win gold in the lead event at the World Climbing Series, specifically at the 2026 Prague event in the Czech Republic, early Monday morning Western Indonesian Time.
Putra, known as Srondeng, recorded a score of 43 to top the men's lead event final at the World Climbing Series.
"Srondeng made history," said Wahyu Pristiawan Buntoro, manager of the Indonesian National Climbing Team, when contacted from Jakarta.
In Prague, Putra defeated Japanese climber Neo Suzuki, a regular champion, with a score of 39.
Meanwhile, Austrian Jakob Schubert took third place with a score of 37.
Putra competed fiercely with the world's best athletes who dominate the lead event rankings.

However, this did not dampen his determination to give his all. His hard work paid off, securing gold for Indonesia in the event.
In qualifying, he finished in the top eight, qualifying for the final.
At that time, Putra managed to collect a score of 37+ and placed third in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Sorato Anraku of Japan placed first with a score of 38+, and Neo Suzuki placed second with a score of 38+.
Before the Prague series, he had also reached the finals of the World Climbing Series in Koper, Slovenia, on September 5-6, 2025.
However, Putra failed to win a medal at that time, finishing sixth with a score of 40+.
