TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto received a visit from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, at his private residence in Hambalang, West Java, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. According to the Presidential Secretariat, Minister Fidan's official visit to the country was made at Prabowo's invitation.
Fidan's presence is part of ongoing efforts by both nations to strengthen bilateral communication and diplomatic coordination amid rapidly shifting regional and global dynamics.
During the meeting, the Head of State specifically expressed his deep appreciation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan and his government for their vital support and cooperation in the successful repatriation process of nine Indonesian citizens, who were part of the humanitarian mission of the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0.
"President Prabowo considers Turkey's support in the humanitarian mission as a reflection of the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries, while also demonstrating a joint commitment to upholding humanitarian values and international solidarity," the Presidential Secretariat stated.
In addition, Prabowo and Fidan exchanged views on the volatile situation unfolding across the Middle East. The high-level discussions covered various regional dynamics that have drawn international concern, particularly the current situations in Iran and Palestine.
Indonesia and Turkey, as fellow voices of the Global South, maintain closely aligned perspectives on the importance of safeguarding regional stability through dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful resolution. The two nations agreed to tighten coordination in promoting efforts to de-escalate various conflicts in the Middle East.
Furthermore, Indonesia and Turkey also reaffirmed their joint commitment to advocate for justice and sovereignty for the Palestinian people.
"The meeting between President Prabowo and Minister Fidan once again underscores the close bilateral relations between Indonesia and Turkey, which have long been cultivated across various fields," concluded the Presidential Secretariat.
