TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Affairs Silmy Karim visited the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Red and White Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta on Wednesday night, June 3, 2026. Tempo's observation at the location saw Silmy arrive at 10:32 PM accompanied by four sturdy aides-de-camp (ADC).
The camera immediately focused on Silmy's figure as he entered the Red and White Building area. His aides momentarily blocked and even pushed the journalists, causing a commotion.
Silmy then signed the attendance list at the reception desk. He was reluctant to answer when journalists asked questions. The former Director General of Immigration only gave a brief answer when asked about his whereabouts during the KPK's covert operation. 'Completing my agenda,' Silmy said.
He did not respond to further questions from the journalists. Silmy then ascended the stairs to be questioned by the KPK.
Prior to this, the anti-corruption agency had arrested a total of 17 people in a series of raids from Tuesday night, June 2, 2026, to Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The arrests were related to the processing of permits for foreign nationals at the West Jakarta Immigration Office.
One of those arrested was the former Acting Director General of Immigration 2024-2025, Saffar M. Godam. Additionally, the Head of the Special Class I Non-TPI West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah, was also arrested.
During the series of sting operations, KPK officers had sought the whereabouts of Silmy Karim. 'The last information we received was that SK was in Jakarta and its surroundings. We urge the concerned party to be cooperative,' said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.
