TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Israeli military claimed to have carried out more than 10,800 airstrikes against Iran during the war launched since late February 2026. This was conveyed by an Israeli representative on Friday, April 10, 2026.
The military also outlined the details of the operations until a temporary ceasefire was reached between Washington and Tehran on April 8, 2026.
Quoting Anadolu Agency's report, it was stated that about 4,000 strategic targets and 6,700 military facilities in Iran had been targeted in the airstrikes. Dozens of fighter jets were also reported to have operated simultaneously throughout the 40-day-long air campaign.
In addition, Israel claimed to have used more than 18,000 munitions in the operation. This is nearly five times the military attacks conducted over 12 days last June.
However, the claim has not been independently verified.
Tensions in the region escalated since the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28. In response, Tehran launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel as well as several countries in the region, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets. Iran was also reported to have blocked ship movements in the Strait of Hormuz.
Diplomatic efforts were then made by several countries, including Pakistan, together with Turkey, China, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, which succeeded in achieving a two-week ceasefire on Wednesday, April 8, about 40 days after the conflict began.
As part of the agreement, Washington and Tehran agreed to meet in Islamabad, Pakistan, to continue discussions towards a more lasting peace agreement.
