TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Actor Andrew Garfield has confirmed that he will not be appearing as Spider-Man in the upcoming Marvel Studios superhero film, "Avengers: Doomsday."

“I’m not," he told Variety on Wednesday, September 2, when asked if he had a role in "Avengers: Doomsday."

Garfield played Spider-Man in two "The Amazing Spider-Man" films and then reprised his role in "Spider-Man: No Way Home" alongside Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire.

The new Tom Holland-led Spider-Man film, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," released in July 2026, grossed $891 million at the North American domestic box office.

Garfield said he wasn't surprised by the success of "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." He noted the relatability of the Spider-Man character in the film to the average person.

"He’s decent and he’s good and he’s ordinary, and he’s extraordinary like all of us," he said.

“It's impossible not to see yourself in that character," he added.

Garfield's new film, "The Uprising," is scheduled to hit theaters on September 10, 2026.

Directed by Paul Greengrass, he plays a fictional character who led a popular uprising against King Richard II in 1831.
