TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Bank Indonesia and the government have discussed the timing for placing and withdrawing state funds in state-owned banks. Bank Indonesia Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti stated that these discussions now feature a set schedule as part of joint efforts to maintain liquidity across the financial system.

"Future coordination regarding when funds are placed in state-owned banks and when the government will withdraw them has been discussed. There is now a timetable for it," Destry told reporters on the sidelines of the 100 Indonesian Economists forum at the Kempinski Grand Ballroom, Jakarta, on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Destry stated that managing liquidity is not solely Bank Indonesia's responsibility, but also the government's. Close coordination is therefore essential in managing the flow of government funds within the banking sector.

"So, once again, this comes down to synergy, because managing liquidity is not just BI's task, but the government's as well," she said.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia has prepared liquidity support through repo instruments and foreign exchange (FX) swaps. Destry noted that the total value has reached approximately Rp920 trillion to Rp930 trillion.

"If we look at repo facilities, including FX swaps, where foreign capital enters and is converted into rupiah, it has reached around Rp920 trillion to Rp930 trillion, meaning liquidity is returning to the system," Destry said.

According to Destry, this liquidity re-enters the financial system through instruments provided by Bank Indonesia. She reiterated that liquidity challenges must be addressed jointly by BI and the government.
