TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several train schedules to and from the area of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta were canceled following a train accident in Bekasi Timur, West Java, Indonesia, on Monday night, April 27, 2026.
The disruption caused significant delays, prompting KAI Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta to implement operational pattern engineering, including trip cancellations. Public Relations Manager of Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta, Feni Novida Saragih, apologized to affected passengers.
“We express our deepest apologies. These cancellations were made to ensure the safety of train journeys and passengers due to the high level of delays,” Feni told reporters in Solo on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
In the Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta area, the cancellations affected trains serving routes to and from Jakarta through major stations such as Yogyakarta Station, Lempuyangan Station, and Solo Balapan Station.
Based on data as of 06:00 local time, KAI Regional Operation 6 recorded four canceled trips on April 27, 2026: Mataram (Pasarsenen–Solo Balapan), Singasari (Pasarsenen–Blitar), Manahan (Gambir–Solo Balapan), and Progo (Pasarsenen–Lempuyangan).
Meanwhile, on April 28, 2026, five trips were canceled: Madiun Jaya (Madiun–Pasarsenen), Mataram (Solo Balapan–Pasarsenen), Singasari (Blitar–Pasarsenen), Manahan (Solo Balapan–Gambir), and Progo (Lempuyangan–Pasarsenen).
Feni said KAI had informed passengers about the cancellations via SMS (text message) and WhatsApp. Affected passengers are entitled to a full refund, excluding booking fees.
“Passengers will receive services in accordance with procedures, including a 100 percent refund,” she said.
Feni added that refund requests can be submitted at station counters handling the cancellations, through Contact Center 121 by calling 021-121, or via the Access by KAI app. The deadline for refund claims is seven days from the departure date stated on the ticket.
KAI Regional Operation 6 Yogyakarta continues to coordinate with relevant units to accelerate track recovery so that train operations can return to normal. The company will also provide periodic updates on operational conditions through its official channels.
