TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iranian media on Saturday, April 4, 2026, claimed that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has participated in the war against Iran.
The state-owned television station, IRIB, as reported by Anadolu, stated in a post on the social media platform X that two documents prove the UAE's involvement in the conflict.
The purported evidence includes the destruction of a Chinese-made Wing Loong-2 drone on Wednesday, an asset claimed to be owned only by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and the reported presence of a UAE Mirage 2000 fighter jet for an interception over Jask Island, Iran, on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
However, these claims have not been independently confirmed by Anadolu, and there has been no direct response from the UAE regarding the report.
Regional tensions have escalated significantly since the United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran on February 28, resulting in the deaths of more than 1,340 people, including the then Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
Iran subsequently retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting American military assets.
