TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Seven years into the ticking clock, at last, the reunion is happening soon in “Avengers: Doomsday.” On Thursday, Marvel Studios revealed the first look at the much-anticipated assembly of Earth’s most renowned heroes at the CinemaCon 2026 presentation.
Following brief teasers released in late 2025 and earlier this year, Thursday’s event marked the very first extensive footage of "Avengers: Doomsday," directed by returning stars Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.
Vaguely describing Doom, Russo saw his character as “not simply a villain” and “one of the most complex Marvel characters.”
The trailer opens in shadow, where Robert Downey Jr. emerges as Doctor Doom, cloaked in green and hidden behind a cold metal mask, ready to breach the multiverse. A flash of light cuts to Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier gazes out from the X-Mansion, sensing danger.
Then chaos unfolds. Channing Tatum’s Gambit collides with Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi. Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique shifts into Yelena Belova, creating a surreal face-off.
In the storm, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor hurls Mjolnir, but Doom stops it mid-air. Silence follows. “If you return, you will return as brothers and sisters,” Thor warns. “Mark my words. We are going to need a miracle.”
Marking the conclusion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga, "Avengers: Doomsday" and "Avengers: Secret Wars" are expected to be closely linked, echoing the back-to-back storytelling approach seen in "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers: Endgame," according to Variety.
The cast brings together a wide range of characters from both the Avengers and X-Men. Names include Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Letitia Wright as Shuri, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
Set for release on December 18, The Hollywood Reporter stated “Avengers: Doomsday” is already drawing strong attention from theater owners, with many viewing it as a leading contender for the highest-grossing film of 2026.
